The activated carbon for sugar used in the sugar industry is usually called sugar carbon. It is characterized by relatively developed coarse micropores, mesopores and macropores, and has a greater affinity for impurities and colored substances in sugar. Both powdered activated carbon and granular activated carbon can be used for sugar decolorization. Powdered activated carbon has a large surface area per unit volume, can complete the treatment in a short time, and is easy to adapt to changes in the properties of the solution. The operation is mostly intermittent and the scale is small. Granular carbon can be packed in the adsorption column for continuous operation, and can be recycled through regeneration, which is suitable for large-scale production.

Characteristics

This series of activated carbon for sugar is produced by phosphoric acid method with selected perfect sawdust as raw material, carbonized and activated under high temperature, and then purified by scientific method. The product with developed mesopore structure has large surface area and high absorbability.

Application

The activated carbon for sugar is mainly used for decolorizing and purification of sugar and sweeteners, such as xylan, xylitol, starch sugar,glucose, maltose, stevia sugar, sucralose, fructose syrup, aspartame, etc.
